Why a 100% Raw Food Diet?

Raw Food Diet – A diet that consists of eating whole, live, unprocessed, uncooked foods as a large part of your diet. 75% – 100% of your diet then you’re considered a raw foodist

I’m not eating 100% raw, yet. BUT It’s a 30-day trial that I plan to do very soon, just to make it a habit and receive as many of the benefits as possible. The road to the raw food diet’s doorstep has been a very unpredictable but I’ve learned a lot from the journey to finding the #1 diet for anyone, not just the ill and overweight, but also everyone else that’s eating the Standard American Diet or SAD as the raw foodies call it. :)

I go out with friends a lot and only 3 of them are vegetarian, but they still eat dairy and other processed foods that aren’t good for any of us, as for everyone else that may come they usually eat varying levels of the standard american diet. And it never fails, once I choose something on the menu, the cat comes out of the bag! Also, it’s difficult for my friends to keep up since I went from  lacto-ovo vegetarian, to vegan, to raw vegan in a matter of months so I have to explain the diet to people. Surprisingly they are very curious about it, despite most thinking the protein myth or worse the notion that they couldn’t do it, or deliberately eat otherwise. But I love it. Gives me a chance to spread the knowledge that Ive gotten from Steve Pavlina and others without being preachy. That’s one thing I don’t do. I will not tell people what they should eat, even though biology and research have pretty much done that. I just tell people why I do it, and let them live the life that they want to live, but if they so choose to try it out, I’d be DELIGHTED to show them the ropes.

It’s wonderful how things unfold when you look for information to get to the bottom of something. I love documentaries for this, and there are tons out there on food and factory farms. I watched A LOT of them leading up to the documentary I saw that introduce me to Dr. Max Gerson his daughter Charlotte and the thousands of patients that were sent home to die by conventional medicine but then taken in by the Gerson Institute and cured. Then I saw Forks Over Knives made by the same folks that wrote The China Study. Then I saw Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, and I was sold! I thought, “If all of these sick people could get well from this diet, and I’m pretty healthy by most peoples standards this is perfect!” But I didn’t stop learning.

I found out about people like David Wolfe who’s been doing this for years upon years, and seen as an expert in nutrition. I found out about Joel Fuhrman, MD, who you’ll recognize if you watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Then I thought, “I’m really on to something here. I’m in!”

I’ve always been interested in what us as human beings are supposed to eat, and through trial and error, some battles with the status quo the truth has emerged. Now more and more people are finding out about the miracle that is Mother Nature and the healing power of our own bodies. It’ll heal itself if we’d only give our bodies the right food. And that’s exactly what we’ve found. Potlucks and gourmet classes and meetups are sprouting up everywhere. It’s a movement and it’s growing, thankfully.

The BEST thing about it is, it’s simple. Unless you want to be a Raw chef and make gourmet raw meals, then there is no need for pots, pans, spatulas, or a stove for that matter. There’s NO cooking involved. Juice, smoothies, salads, pates, nut butters and the list goes on and on. Takes way less time and energy from you and the grid than slaving over a stove.

THAT’S WHY I LOVE IT! And soon why I won’t be eating anymore cooked food. All Raw. ;)
